About Joshum
Hi! My name is Joshum. I’m a tattooer, illustrator, and all around nerd working primarily in Portland Oregon with frequent trips to Southern Oregon. I’ve been tattooing since 2017 and I have extensive experience and training in illustration. I love to draw. It is one of the great pleasures of my life and I am so grateful every day that I get to draw for a living.
I do custom tattoos designed to fit your body and age well in a bold illustrative style. I’m happy to work in either color or black and grey.
My work is influenced and inspired by many pop art traditions like Art Nouveau, Comic Books, Dungeons and Dragons, Manga, Anime, Sci-if, Fantasy, Gaming, Heavy Metal, Pin Up, Art Deco, Golden Age illustration, and Psychedelic Art.
I like to create work that is thoughtful, elegant, lively, organic, imaginative, dark, mythological, playful and many shades in between.
Background
I was born and raised in Nevada, where I attended the University of Nevada Reno (2007 bachelors of Art - Drawing & Photography). I moved to Oregon in 2008 and lived in Portland for 12 years where I worked as an illustrator, musician, busboy, teacher, and caregiver before attending Tattoo school in 2017. I have tattooed full time since then at various shops and conventions throughout Oregon.
