Frequently Asked Questions
What is your tattoo style?
My style is best categorized as illustrative with strong influence from Neotraditional tattooing, American Traditional tattooing, and Traditional Japanese tattooing. I first learned to tattoo in a street shop taking walk ins and learning to be comfortable in flexible styles, so I am open to a diversity of looks in tattooing. I love working in bright vivid colors, or full black and grey. However I try to responsibly design tattoos that are bold and that will stand the test of time, with clean outlines, solid packed color, and smooth black and grey.
What subjects do you like to tattoo?
I like to tattoo all kinds of stuff! Nature stuff like flowers, ferns, trees, animals, and landscapes. Fantasy stuff like dragons, unicorns, goblins, orcs, heroes, monsters, and myths. Nerdy fandom stuff is especially fun for me, like video game, manga, anime, sci-fi, or comic book inspired tattoos. I also like doing pinups, pet portraits, cover ups, and memorial pieces.
What don’t you like to tattoo?
I don’t like doing: geometric, wispy fine line, “watercolor” style, text tattoos, or tattoos without black.
How do I schedule an appointment?
Submit a booking request through my website for review. I try my best to respond to all booking requests within 7-10 days. If I accept your project, I will ask for a deposit in order to secure a date. If you are offered a date and do not respond within 48 hrs the date may be offered to another client.
What if I have to reschedule?
Life happens and you may need to reschedule your tattoo. I totally understand and I appreciate as much notice as possible if this is the case. I need at least 48 hrs notice for rescheduling or your deposit will be forfeit and a new deposit will be required to book a new date.
What is your policy on touch ups?
I am happy to touch up tattoos I’ve done for you. Generally I only ask a $20 setup fee for the first year following the initial procedure. Should you desire a touch up after that, I charge on a case by case basis, up to and including full price depending on the nature of the damage to the tattoo.
I submitted a booking request. Why haven’t I heard back?
I try to respond to all inquiries within 10 days, but I’m only human and due to a high volume of emails, some inevitably slip through the cracks. Feel free to send a follow up email if you haven’t heard back.
How much will my tattoo cost?
As of January 2023 my Grants Pass studio rates will be $180/hr or $720/day (4-6 hrs). Travel rates may apply if your appointment is during a visit to a shop in another city or a convention outside of Grants Pass.
I cannot give estimates for the cost of any tattoo until I understand the key details of the project including but not limited to subject, placement, size, & style. The larger or more complex the tattoo concept, the more difficult it will be to give an accurate estimate.
Can I bring a guest to my appointment?
Yes! You may bring ONE and ONLY ONE guest with you to your session. I ask that guests be tidy and respectful of the space, the other artists, and the studio.
How long have you been tattooing?
I have been tattooing full time since 2017. Prior to that I did freelance illustration professionally for 15 years, and was formally trained in illustration and design at the University of Nevada, Reno, attaining a bachelors in Illustration in 2007.
Can I see my design in advance?
Sorry, no. My policy is that designs are completed on the night before or the morning of the appointment. I am happy to make adjustments to the design on the day of the appointment within reason and we will allow time for those revisions.
What if I don’t like the design?
If you are sure you are ready to be tattooed and that I am a good fit for you artistically, I am fully confident we will come up with the perfect design for you together. I take pride in my listening and collaboration skills, and I will always go above and beyond for my clients. I will do my best to meet your expectations and to be flexible in giving you the design you want, but getting tattooed requires trust. If you are having trouble trusting the process, you may not be ready to get tattooed and that’s ok. Get in touch when you are ready!
Having said that, I can’t please everyone. It has literally only happened once in my career, but if we are simply unable to come to an agreement on the date of your appointment your deposit may be forfeit.
Why didn’t you post my tattoo on social media?
It is not because I don’t love your tattoo! I don’t love social media or it’s impact on all of our mental health, so I often choose to focus my energy elsewhere.
I am old school and I tattoo for my clients, not for social media. 90% of my business is through repeat clientele and word of mouth and I probably post less than 10% of the work that I do. The busier I am with tattoo work, the less likely I am to post anything to social media.
